After the first teams have been announced few days ago, two Spanish drivers now confirmed their participation in the maiden Spanish F4 Championship season certified by FIA.

Fifteen years old driver Xavier Lloveras was competing in karting until the start of the season, being vice-champion of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy or 3rd in the Spanish Championship the year before. Lluc Ibañez has been Lloveras’ competitor in karting, scoring a second position overall in the Spanish Championship the same year as Lloveras.

Both drivers have chosen to compete in the Dutch team MP Motorsport who’s team Manager Sander Dorsman commented:

Sander Dorsman, MP Motorsport Team Manager

“We are confident that Xavi and LLuc will do a very good job this season. They have been strong and consistent during the winter testing days and they will be very tough contenders of the championship. They are more than ready to kick start the championship in Navarra”

Xavier LLoveras will as well be enrollled in the SMP F4 NEZ Championship certified by FIA, with its first round starting in few weeks only together with the Formula One Russian Grand Prix in Sochi Autodrom. The Spanish driver will therefore have a program of 14 events and 41 race starts in 2016.

Xavier Lloveras, Spanish F4 Driver

«I’m very happy to announce officially that this year I will be competing in the SMP F4 NEZ and Spanish F4, both certified by FIA.

Before taking the final decision I have done 10 test days with the F4 organised by Koiranen GP. They have been very positive days, I could drive in all track conditions, and always in the Top-4. My development wouldn’t have been posible without my coaches Matt Parry and Mikko Pakari.

In the Spanish Championship, I will take part of the MP Motorsport team. It’s a team with a large experience and lots of wins in different categories in formula racing. My objective in this championship is finishing in the Top-3 and fight for some victories.

In the SMP F4 NEZ Championship, everything will be more difficult because I have never been to any track of the calendar. Although I will fight for the final podium. The opening race will be in Sochi, sharing event with the F1 Grand Prix. I am a bit nervous but motivated for this exciting moment! »

More announcement are to come as the Spanish F4 grid is taking shape.
